1840  Three copious meals . . . are daily served up . . . consisting generally of the same component parts; among which are . . . maple-molasses, pease-pudding, gingerbread, and sour trout.
1848  The supper was laid on the table at ten o'clock, and consisted principally of dried beaver-tail and cariboo meat, fried and boiled salmon, rye-bread, maple molasses and tea.
1897  . . . we made our household sugar, and luscious maple molasses, not mixed as it is now too often with water and common Muscovado sugar.
